Hakaya is a Pan-Mediterranean program/platform connecting organizations, groups, and individuals who believe in the centrality of “stories” in individual development and cultural growth. This project celebrates “story-telling” in the theatre, the arts, promotion of literacy, formation of identity, and inter-cultural dialogue. It is funded by the European Union and led by the Arab Education Forum, Jordan in partnership with Tamer Institute (Palestine), Al Jana (Lebanon), MS/Action Aid (Denmark), El Warsha theatre group (Egypt), and Al Balad theatre (Jordan) in addition to 8 associate partners.

 

Tamara storytelling festival in Morocco

The festival's theme will focus on the role of cultures in achieving unity among people from different countries. Several activities are scheduled to take place between August 30 and September 6 including storytelling nights and performances around the city featuring fictional characters and inspired by the Morroccan cultural heritage. Participants from Morocco, Mauirtania, Libya, Tunisia and Algeria will attend the festival and share their persepectives on how a unified culture can unite the poeple.

Annual meeting of the Federation of European Storytellers FEST
On 12 and 13 August, Hakaya coordinator took part in the annual meeting of the Federation of European Storytellers FEST, held in Reading, UK. More information on the meeting and will follow soon. more


Janana Summer Encounter
The Janana Summer Encounter is held every year at Brummana High School. A residential 10 day camp attended by approximately 150 animators from both Palestinian and Lebanese NGO’s. more
